The Changsha Zhongtian Transportation Co-organized the National Tunnel Technology and Shield TBM Intelligent Manufacturing Observation Conference, which was successfully held in Changsha.

From January 8 to 10, 2021, the National Symposium on Tunneling Technology and Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation for Shield TBM Equipment was successfully held at the Jinya International Hotel, located along the Liuyang River in Changsha. The theme of this symposium on technological innovation and exchange was “Implementing Three Transformations, Developing Smart Equipment, and Promoting Intelligent Construction.” The event featured sections including “Keynote Speeches,” “Thematic Reports,” “Academic Exchanges,” “Exhibition Areas,” and “Observational Study Tours.” The symposium was organized by the China Urban Construction and Civil Engineering Science and Technology Research Association and co-organized by Changsha Zhongtian Transportation Rock Drilling Technical Service Co., Ltd., Changsha Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd., Shanhe Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Jintu Geotechnical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., China Railway Eleventh Bureau Wuhan Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd., Shandong University, and the State Key Laboratory of Shield and Tunneling Technology, among other institutions. It was undertaken by Changsha Yannanfei Conference Services Co., Ltd. The symposium received strong support from TunnelNet, Central South University, Hunan University, Wuhan University, Lixin Surveying (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Rail Transit Shield Tunneling Technology Research Institute, Shanghai Mido Surveying Technology Co., Ltd., and China Railway Eighteenth Bureau Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd.

 

 

Xu Shangnong, Chief Engineer of Changsha Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd.; Chen Kui, an expert from China Railway Group and a professor at Shenzhen University; Dr. Chen Xuehua, Chairperson of Guangzhou Jintu Geotechnical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.; and Zhou Jianjun, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Tunneling and Excavation Technology, among other leaders, attended the opening ceremony of the conference.

 

Zhang Yantao, Executive Deputy General Manager of Changsha Zhongtian Traffic Rock Drilling Technical Service Co., Ltd., presided over the opening ceremony. Expert Xu Shangnong, Chief Engineer of Changsha Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd., delivered the opening address. Over 100 experts and scholars from across the country attended the meeting in person. Due to the impact of the pandemic, more than 600 people participated online by watching the live stream.

Chen Xuehua, Chairman of Guangzhou Jintu Geotechnical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the conference titled “Rectangular Pipe Jacking: ‘Green, Safe, and Efficient’ Construction of Underground Projects.” Chen Kui, an expert from China Railway Group and a professor at Shenzhen University, was also invited to deliver a keynote speech at the conference titled “Achievements and Prospects in the Development of Full-face Tunnel Boring Machines and Construction Technologies in China.”

Zhao Tianyu, Director of the Testing Products Department at Lixin Measurement (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., presented a keynote speech entitled “3D Detection System for Shield TBM Pipe Segments Based on High-Precision Testing Equipment.” Zhong Changping, Director of the Guangzhou Rail Transit Shield Tunneling Technology Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech titled “Key Technologies for Shield Tunneling Construction in Water-Rich Karst Composite Strata.” Zhou Jianjun, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Tunneling and Excavation Technology, gave a keynote speech titled “Key Technologies for TBM Tunneling in Deep and Long-Distance Tunnels.” Xue Guangji, an engineer from the Design and Research Institute of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, presented a keynote speech titled “New Construction Methods and New Equipment for Underground Space Development.”

Qin Xu, Product Manager at Shanghai Mido Measurement Technology Co., Ltd., delivered an academic report titled “Intelligent Tunnel Surveying: High-Precision and Accurate Operations.” Wan Ze'en, a doctoral candidate from the School of Civil Engineering and Water Resources at Shandong University, presented an academic report entitled “Improved Muck Treatment for Shield TBM Machines and Technologies for Preventing Structural Leakage.” Wu Huaina, a professor at the School of Civil Engineering at Hunan University, gave an academic report titled “Surface Settlement Prediction and Intelligent Control for Shield Tunneling Based on Machine Learning.” Zhang Xiaoping, a professor at the School of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Wuhan University, delivered an academic report titled “Difficulties and Key Technologies in Large-Diameter Shield Tunnel Projects in Complex Geological Conditions.” Wang Shuying, a professor at the School of Civil Engineering at Central South University, presented an academic report titled “Mechanism of Foam-Based Improvement of Coarse-Grained Muck in Shield Tunnels and Methods for Controlling Spouting.” Yang Qinghui, Chief Project Engineer at China Railway 18th Bureau Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd., gave an academic report titled “Discussion on Long-Distance Rock Pipe Jacking Construction Technology.” Zhu Jianxin, Deputy General Manager of China Railway Shanhe Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd., delivered an academic report titled “Innovative Technologies and Equipment for Tunnel Construction.”

At this symposium on technological innovation and exchange, all participants focused on current hot topics such as tunneling technology and intelligent manufacturing of shield TBMs, engaging in in-depth academic exchanges on how to promote the “three transformations,” further enhance China’s comprehensive national strength and international competitiveness, and strengthen innovation and development in the fields of shield design, construction, manufacturing, and scientific research.
